Bringing the Future of Mobility to Life - Future Moves.

Background

When Z wanted to bring to life a significant body of work they had undertaken on the future of mobility they appointed D&Co to explore creative ways to shine a light on their work.

The challenge

To communicate the extensive work and insights Chris and the team had collated from their global exploration into what the future of mobility might look like at Z Energy.

“When we started to explore ways to bring our work on the future of mobility to life we had a desire to not just create another traditional report, that we felt might not get the attention this incredibly important area deserved.

We reached out to D&Co to consider creative ways to bring our work to life and boy did they deliver. The end result was an incredible pop-up exhibit that Russ and the team worked incredibly hard to deliver within a very tight budget. We were delighted with the outcome. So much so that we asked D&Co to create another pop-up in our Wellington office.”

Future Moves.

Our solution

Hot on the heels of delivering the Future of Loyalty design sprint and our signature large format boards we were asked to bring to life a body of work on the future of mobility.

Chris and his team had spent a significant period researching mobility futures including an extensive field trip visiting innovators from across the globe, from Silicon Valley to Singapore, Oslo to Helsinki. This work led the team to writing a series of papers that laid out the current state and a hypothesis about the future of mobility and the opportunity ahead for Z Energy.

D&Co dived into the research and spent time considering how best the material could be presented to leaders across the business and key external parties. Our journey started by exploring formats and with budget being a key challenge we had to think differently and come up with options that were very cost effective.

We presented 2 options to Chris and the team with Chris saying ‘We’ll take both!” We stuck to one simple approach that leveraged the use of a cheap Xantia board and an interlocking box design system that provided ultimate flexibility as we laid out our story.

The design of the pop-up experience clearly laid out the overall future of mobility narrative and included a small microsite housing video content. To accompany the pop-up we designed a supporting booklet that laid out our story for those unable to visit the exhibit.

The Z team were delighted with the end result. So much so that we were asked to re-create the experience in the Wellington office.

Deliverables:

Concept ideation and prototyping. Naming & Wordmark. Pop-up design and installation. Supporting booklet.
